Hello all, been lurking here a while now gaining as much knowledge as possible for venturing into raising egg laying chickens. After many hours of research, I've decided to go with a coop/tractor hybrid for raising the 24 chicks I currently have in the brooder (on my second larger brooder now). Man, these little ladies grow fast. ;)

Thought I'd share a couple photos of the progress of the coop, as the pressure builds to get it done before they outgrow their current brooder. Overall, it's a 12 x 20 enclosure with the coop itself being a 12 x 10.

The girls will be sharing the coop with a couple Nigerian Dwarf nanny goats too.

Chicks in their first brooder. Buffs, Silver lace, and Ameracaunas.

You might want to consider a separate area for the goats, a friend of mine had goats mixed in with his chickens and the goats cleaned out all the food, not good for either. The coop looks good nice size and well built.

Yes, I had thought about that. The family that we got the goats from keep Guineas with their goats and claim it keeps them flea and tick free, but the feed thing could definitely be a problem. No worries, keeping the goats separate isn't a problem. Thanks for the feedback!

If you couldn't tell, I'm new to this whole livestock thing. ;)

A little more progress over the weekend. Got it ready for the roof to go on.
