Hi

My Coop is new . Never I put the chickens.

Can I use Sand on the floor

it's the best option ??

please let me know

thanks -Jorge

I love sand in my coop and in nesting boxes and outside in my run.

Easy to clean and no stink ,

Good luck

Many people use construction grade sand in their coops. It’s all a personal preference. Other options: pine flaked bedding, pine pelleted bedding, PDZ . Someone else will hopefully chime in for more suggestions. Good luck!

Hi Jorge.
What size is your coop? How many chickens are you planning on keeping?
I prefer to use the deep litter method (DLM) and started with a 6" layer of litter. You really only have to clean the coop out once or twice a year. The DLM has also been proven to improve the immune systems of chickens raise with it.
I use hemp bedding for my litter. After scraping the roost(s) off, you just stir the litter every other day.
There is a good article here on BYC you can read about DLM.
