New coop

Hi all! We are building a new coop and have decided to use metal for the roof and the siding. I am just wondering if anyone has done this before? We live in Northern Michigan , so winters can get a little rough. It’s very large. I plan on have three separate coops, a brooder and a storage area. Just framing those in with wood and chicken wire and what not. So I guess I am wondering if I should insulate it or leave it be. Or use metal on the inside as well.

Michigan's winters get snow & cold, metal will resignate the cold & sweats. Metal roofing sounds ok but you need good ventilation to prevent sweating. I'd recommend insulation but then again you could pile bales of straw along the inside walls for insulation ...

Yes! I plan on putting windows in and ventilation openings as well.

Make sure your roof framing under the metal can handle the snow load.
Ventilation is likely not enough to prevent condensation.
Good to put metal over plywood or foam board or underlayment to avoid condensation issues, research the best product to use.
