I have decided against building my own coop. I don’t have the tools needed, I don’t have any knowledge of building, and my husband is only home on the weekends so is unable to help with too much of it. So we have bought an 8x12 building to convert into a coop!

I do feel like we can at list build the run on it. I pretty much have that drawn out. Then we can divide the inside into an 8x8 area for the chickens and also a 4x8 space for storage and feed. This works out perfectly for us!

We will add a 12x16 run on one side. I currently have 4 chicks in the brooder and 7 more to be delivered in a week, hopefully. This will be a fun new adventure and we are super excited to embark on it!

Cool. It will get hot in there pretty quick especially in West Texas so plan on adding some more ventilation. Make sure you read the "Predator" section real good before you design your outside run.
Definitely planning for lots of ventilation and predator proof for the run!!

We are taking a similar approach in west texas as well, so im watching for updates! Ill post some as well!
