New coop?.......

We haven't started building the new coop yet as were are building a new barn and the new coop will be attached to the back of the barn. I want to incorporate my old coop in with the new one. Here are some older pictures of the coop I want to use. I want to cut a doorway where the window and side pop door is currently as access to the new part and put the add-on, on that side of the coop with more nest boxes similar to the ones in the old coop on the opposite end.

Here is a picture of the barn so far from the front side. Part of the floor was poured yesterday as it will have a concrete floor. The coop will be built on the back side.

The plan is to put the pullets in the new coop first for a few days before I put the older birds in so hopefully the integration will go fairly smooth. Any suggestions on the coop or integration would be greatly appreciated.

any thought on leaving the old coop/run seperate so you can use it as a isolation pen for new chickens or for broodies and chicks?

I have a second coop right now that I have chicks in that can be used for isolation if I need to. I want to raise the new coop and old coop up about 2 feet off the ground and put a poop pit under the new part like I have in the current coop. The coop with the poop pit definately stays cleaner than my coop without one. I use the poop in my compost piles.
