new cuckoo marans today

I just picked up 7 cuckoo maran chicks from a local guy today. And I'm jazzed. Have been wanting some dark-colored egg layers for a while. I'm definitely a backyard chicken person. Not interested in showing -- been there, done that with dogs, llamas, & alpacas. I'm a retired old lady, who just wants to enjoy having some silly chickens and fresh eggs Ooooo yum. I already have 3 laying hens, and 11 juvenile pullets, who are about ready to start laying. In fact one of them did this morning, as I found 4 eggs, rather than my regular 3.

Hope to learn from the more experienced folks on this site. New here at BYC. I'm in E. Texas. So how-de-do!
