My turkeys have been in a 10 x 10 pen for the past month and have been doing ok but I wanted more space for them so today, we put up a 10 x 22 pen for them with bird netting over the entire pen and a tarp over the last 12' of one end. We pulled an old rotten stump and cut a tree down to leave another stump for them to perch upon. We put an airconditioner cover and a 55 gal trash can on it side in as well..we are building a 6' x 4' shed for them to have more roosting space next...

I swapped the Narragansett/Royal Palm tom that I had back to my buddy for a 1 yr old broad breasted hen that had just begun laying- hopefully, my Tom will do his business and in a couple of weeks we will have some fertile eggs if she begins laying again...she sure does talk a lot..I am guessing that she is stressed from the move and new environment...

anyways, thank you folks for your guidance and help getting me started in turkeys...

Post up results of breeding program.

When you let them out, are they agreeable to being herded back in, or do they go in on their own?

the goulds need to be coaxed back with treats0 have not let the broad breasted out yet- today was her 2nd day with us- she has cried both days up until about 4 today- she finally lay down near the tom and has been quiet since then. I am wondering if, since she layed an egg this morning and it is her first day near a tom if she was just wanting to mate?
