I just got my first dozen chicks 2 weeks ago from a hatchery and am having so much fun! At only 2 weeks, I am surprised at how active they are. Today a baby Barred Plymouth Rock leapt up my arm and out of the brooder box! All are supposed to be hens, but I am beginning to suspect that at least one will be a rooster. I also have Rhode Island Red, Black Austrolorp (I think), and New Hampshire Red.

I live in central Ohio with my husband and two pugs on a small farm with gardens and a farm pond. We are very busy in the summer with vegetables, fruit, and now chickens!

The forum seems like a great resource.......

Just may be a rooster. I think baby roosters are friendlier and more adventurous. Obviously it is a ploy so you will fall in love with them fast and not want to dump them later. Well it's a good try anyway.
