New Drake question

I placed a new drake with my hens and my hens are used to free roaming everyday and i havent been letting them because of the new drake his wings are clipped(mallard) and im just wondering how long should he be left inclosed before i can safely let him free roam im just trying to avoid him taking off or leading my girls out of my yard anyone??

Unless you are sure you can recapture the drake (you + another) you should keep him confined for at least a month so he thinks of your home as his home. If he fits in well with the rest of the flock and has either a buddy or a mate I might risk it sooner. ~gd
