New Duck House!

What a beautiful coop I love it! You did such a nice job. However you finish just make sure that no predators can dig under and into your coop. I dug down 6 inches and layed chicken wire over the entire bottom and attached it up to the inside wire. However when I added the pond I wished I had planned that area better. But we worked it out eventually lol

I was reading that if you just lay 2-3 feet of fencing flat on the ground about 2-3 inches down and attach to bottom of the exterior it keeps things from digging in. I was also thinking about just putting a bed of river rocks along the whole perimeter of it.

Do I have to do anything special for nesting boxes? If I have females and they want to lay eggs will they nest in the house or outside in the run ? I could always add a nesting box to the house on the backside if need be.
My Ducks lay their eggs right in their bedding. I use deep shaving and they dig out their nest and lay.

What a lovely house! My ducks would be jealous!!!

Mine live in a large, modified chicken tractor, wrapped completely in hardware cloth for safety; the adjacent chicken areas all have hardware cloth attached to the base of their coops and/or runs, with square patio blocks or bricks on top of it. Well, all but one coop -- and that's the raised one in my avatar; that thing is built like Fort Knox (and was nearly as costly!).

As far as nesting, my runners make indentations in the straw bedding and leave eggs there. Or, they lay them on top of the bedding. Or, they simply drop them on the ground wherever they are. I hope yours are more consistent!

Great construction job!!
