In warm weather I love using PDZ sand. And sometimes I put pine shavings in top of it.
yeah we are in nj i see that some people say not to use sand in nj because it will freeze

What a beautiful coop I love it! You did such a nice job. However you finish just make sure that no predators can dig under and into your coop.
My Ducks lay their eggs right in their bedding. I use deep shaving and they dig out their nest and lay.Do I have to do anything special for nesting boxes? If I have females and they want to lay eggs will they nest in the house or outside in the run ? I could always add a nesting box to the house on the backside if need be.
