New Duck Mama :) Are Chux pads/bedliners safe to use in brooder?

So my baby Welsh Harlequins just hatched the night before last, yippie! I have hatched duck eggs one time before and raised them using towels in the brooder and soaking in a bucket before washing. It was very stinky and I had laundry all the time. I am looking for a simpler way to keep my new babies pen clean. I was wondering if the bed lining pads that have the soft top and blue waterproof liner underneath are safe for ducklings? I am just worried about the possibility of the ducklings eating bits of it if it gets soggy. Has anyone ever tried this before? Thanks everyone

There are quite a few people that use puppy pads. Isn't that the same type of product?

Ducks pick, pick,pick. I would be worried that they would ingest pieces of the pads. I don't think that would be a good thing.

I've used the puppy pee pads in my duck brooders for years. Helps cut down on the wet mess.

Yeah, the bedliners are the exact same thing only puppy pee pads have some sort of scent that is supposed to tell the doggies that it is the bathroom spot

Sounds like a couple people have used them. So Katy you had no problems with the ducklings pecking and eating little bits of the pad? Thanks so much everyone

I use the bed liners all the time and have never had a problem.

I use puppy pads - and I have to change them out often enough that they don't really get to picking at them. I've used the puppy pads for a lot of duckling brooding this summer so far - none have ever picked at them.

I also used puppy pads from Wal-Mart a pack of 100 was $25...Worked great they pecked at it but didnt eat it..They peck at everything...

I've been using them too. I think they work great for wicking away the extra moisture and smell. To keep my little explorers from picking at them I covered them with straw.
