We had day old female hatchlings shipped to us this week from Metzer. They left the hatchery on Tuesday, and arrived to us in Kentucky on Thursday. The ducklings were active, literally hopping out of the box as soon as they had an opening, and once I set them in the brooder, they ate and drank for about 45 minutes! They still had gro-gel left in the cups in the box, so I scraped out the remaining and put it in with their food, figuring they could use every last bit of it.

It’s been a little over 24 hours since they’ve been home, and I would say they have made themselves right at home! I have three sons, and they each got to choose what kind of duck they wanted. My oldest chose a white layer, the middle a Buff, and my littlest wanted a Blue Swedish. These ducklings have already made their way into my sons’ heart, and ok maybe mine too 🥰

It’s hard to tell the white layer apart from the Buff right now, anyone have any tips or hints how to tell those two ducklings apart?
