Do my ducklings need a heat lamp at almost 3 weeks if its 70 degrees in my house??? I also have a new new duckling maybe 3 days old. Will she be okay with them if i dont keep the lamp on them? I dont want to seperate them because they we slightly mean to her and at first. They are bonding now. Please any advice thanks!

A 3 day old duckling needs heat. Place you heat lamp at one end of your brooder so part is nice an warm the other end is on the cool side. That way the older ones can get out of the warmth if they want but your tiny one can still get warm.

Do you think by the end of week i could seperate them then? I have then in an extra long tub. Ive been having to move the lamp up so its 77 in there now. The older ducks start panting if its any closer than that.

Shes not complaing about it. Shes seems content. Her feet arent cold. She is keeping warm on the ducks or the other chicks. The older ones are pekins and this one was just an assorted. Im thinking she looks like a blue swedish maybe.

This is their set up.

Believe me they are going to grow out of there fast. But I don’t think I’d go any lower on the heat for now just keep the heat at one end maybe put the food an water in the middle that will give the Pekins the cool end if they want to get out from under the warmth. I wouldn’t separate them just go to a larger brooder. What works real well is a kiddy pool. Gives plenty of room to grow till ready to go outside for good. @DuckyDonna has her set up hopefully she’ll see this tag.
