New duck owner...couple questions on pet ducks.

I recently acquired a rouen duckling. I was curious about making him/her a house duck. I've been looking all over trying to find where I can get diapers or how to make them. Does anyone else have an indoor pet duck? How easy is it to make them into house pets? I've never owned a duck before and this one was given to me as they ordered too many. It's already attatched and will peep like crazy if I walk away. I thought about putting him/her in with my chickens in the coop when fully grown but was told they're not related to chickens and you can't do that. And I don't think it would be happy in a pen by itself.

Ducks are social animals- so they do prefer company of their own kind. But they can make great house pets as well. A few people on this forum have them. I have Ollie who lives inside due to a disability- and Monty who will wander inside for a visit if the back door is left open. A Rouen is a very large "mallard" type duck. They cannot fly. He/she would be more happy with another duck. Before you get all involved, check with your local ordinances to see if ducks are permitted. This will save a lot of heart break if you need to re-home him/her.

Otherwise, Rouens are very nice ducks. The French bred them as "lawn ornaments" (nice to look at). And...... when they got big enough.... ate them. (sorry)

Ive had house ducks before

As long as you change the diaper out often enough the smell doesnt get too bad. Although it is a good idea to let them out in the backyard for at least half the day as I found my ducks were happier and healthier that way.

I've been trying to find where they sell ducks and will sell only one. Most want you to order a lot at a time. I only want a total of 2 ducks. I've been trying to see if any of my neighbor's ordered ducks as well because maybe I can purchase one from them but most have ordered chicks.

I have two female ducks. One pekin and one crested pekin. Would they be compatible with a kahki campbell drake?
