New duck owner!

Greetings everyone! :frow

I'm a relatively new duck owner living in Indonesia, all the way on the other side of the world. English is not my native language so my apologies in advance if my English is a little bit off.

With that being said, I've been lurking in BYC for a few months now ever since I started owning ducks. I've learned countless things just from reading the threads here, but at the same time there are still so many things that I don't know. I decided to join the community so that I can ask questions directly and learn even more :)

All of my ducks are muscovies and they are all sweethearts. Here's a picture of my youngest duck!

He's 3 months old and named Chomper, after the T-Rex in The Land Before Time (They had the same demeanor when he was young, and he'd chomp on anything on sight! :D). His background is a bit of a sad story, which I guess I can talk about later if anyone's interested.

Anyway, I call him a "he" but I'm not actually quite sure. The other ducks are at least 1 month older than him so I can't really compare the sizes properly. My other (much older) drake has been trying to mate with him recently though, but I read that drakes do that to other drakes sometimes.

Well I don't wanna blabber too much on my first post haha. I hope I can fit in and I'm looking forward to be a part of the community! Oh, and Merry Christmas everyone!!

Welcome to BYC! Always happy to have new members join our community. Chomper is adorable and I'm pretty he is a she. I have lots of muscovies and based on Chompers caruncle development I'd say it's a girl. She's super cute! :love

And if you have any questions. Don't be shy ask away and blab all you want. :D

Hi! Thanks for the input! I've been getting mixed guesses as to whether Chomper is a he or she, which I suppose makes sense since it's quite hard to tell from photos alone. However just recently Chomper has lost his voice and he now sounds quite similar to a drake (hissing). What do you think? Is he just a drake that looks feminine or is something else causing him to lose his voice?

Interesting males and females both loose their voices at a certain age so at this point it's kinda hard to tell for sure. Could you get pic of him/her next to your drake?

When drakes "mate" with other drakes it is just because their trying to show their dominance. You may want to think about getting some more females too, because with 2 muscovy drakes you'll need more than 3 hens to keep them calm. Also, to prevent the drakes from fighting and hurting each other or just Jumbo hurting Chomper.
