I don't know anything about ducks but, one year we were visited by a Mallard hen and two drakes. The males didn't fight and they didn't bother the hen either. They seemed like the 3 Musketeers. The hen would walk on the outside ledge of our picture window and check us out. She also came to the side door looking for treats , I imagine other people had fed her before. We kept a big pan of fresh water out for them and really enjoyed their antics till they decided to continue on their way.
Maybe other breeds aren't that way but, I certainly can see why ducks appeal to so many people.
