New Duckling doesn't look "right"...

Thanks again! I'll keep up with the vitamins for now and make sure he's drinking plenty of water. Because of the neck issue I'm not sure he can do it on his own right now. I did dip his bill in the water and he took a few sips. Swimming is probably a good idea as long as the house in warm enough.

Swimming in a nice sink or tub of warm water will help to build strength, just be sure to be their in case it needs help. and massage while in the warm water ..

I measured out some niacin and mixed it into the water. He's still a bit squinty-eyed, but better, and definitely has a greater range of motion in the neck.

My duck Daisy has a crooked neck. It took her quite a while to strengthen her muscles so she was balanced. Her legs seemed to splay out often too, but that was her getting used to functioning with a crooked neck.
Daisy is 5 months old now and still has a crooked neck. She swims fine, her face is closer to the water though. Sometimes she will quack while swimming and gulp some water but she is fine. She is normal aside from her neck and the others do not bother her.
I will try to post up a pic of her today. But here is her right after hatch.

She couldn't lift her head so would kind of roll around.

I meant to post sooner but I guess I just forgot... My little duckling didn't make it through a second night unfortunately.

I took him to Mom's house with me and held him while I was watching TV. Every once in awhile I'd open up my hands to see how he was doing and he seemed to be getting worse. His head would flop back and forth and his legs would shake. He couldn't control himself. So I just kept holding him in my hands and the next time I looked down he had passed on... It was sad, but I was glad I could have made the duckling feel comfortable and secure during his last moments.

I'm sorry to hear it passed, but sometimes it's just for the best if they start out with handicaps. Heres hoping your next hatch will be perfect.
