Hi everyone, I currently have a 2 week old duckling and many of you have suggested to get another one. I was wondering..

1) will my 2 week old duckling get along with this one as it's coming from another flock (it will be 4 weeks old by the time the new duckling comes in)
2) Can i get that duckling to imprint on me from day 1?
3) if it does imprint on me, will it also like my 2 week old duck?

Thank you so much!

Initial fighting or wariness of each other may be expected at first, but as long as the birds are near the same age they should eventually bond with each other. If serious pecking/fighting occurs it may be best to separate the birds, but allow them to see each other via a wire barrier for a few days/
A pen with many activities and objects for them to play in/with will keep both birds occupied and less likely to fight during the initial integration.

Ducklings imprint most easily with humans directly after hatch; if you are receiving a duckling that is a few weeks old, it may be wary of you at first, but plenty of treats, calm/ slow movements around the bird, and time will ultimately get the bird used to your presence.

I'm wondering how much work I will have to put in as I believe it's cruel to keep one duckling, but I'm unsure if I will have to spend how much time with them and if those 2 can keep each other company for hours on end.
