Been a chicken/duck mom for over a year. I have an 8 day old duckling that is the only survivor of the 2 that hatched. I have a stuffed animal and a mirror with her to keep her company when I can’t be with her. Any other advice?

Jump right in and make yourself at home.

Do you have a feed store near by that sells ducklings?

Glad you decided to join the party!! There are so many knowledgeable folks here willing to answer any/all questions. We share stories, laughter, and sometimes grief...it really is a big happy family. Jump right in any enjoy!:highfive:

Is there anyway you can get him a friend?

Been trying. The youngest i can find is 3 months old. She’s only a week old. Can’t even find chicks. And i only want 2 at the most. Crushed my wrist and tore my rotator cuff so i have a lot of surgery/recovery over the next 12 months. Wasn’t planning to do this but the broody chicken quit sitting 2 hours before she hatched and now she won’t take her back.

Have you tried craigslist? Or getting one of the older ones and setting up a look-no-touch area so that they could see each other, but the younger one could not be harmed? Then, integration would be fairly easy as ducks grow fast.
What kind of duckling? We love pics!
