Just wanted to make sure that this setup is ok for around a 4 day old baby duck, I will be getting a red head light today.

He likes to sleep in that brown hat thing of a night, is that ok?

Thanks.

Your little duck likely feels comfort inside the "hat thing" as there is no Mama duck to keep him warm. Another trick to make him comfortable, as he is alone, is putting a feather duster in with him so he can hide tucked away inside.

I personally like the ceramic reptile heat lamps -- the bulb fits in a heat lamp that a red bulb would fit in -- as there is no light just warmth for the ducklings. Red ones a prfectly fine heatwise, but you have to leave them on and the ducklings then get some light night and day until they are old enough to be at your room temperature.
