This afternoon we brought home 6 little Mallard ducklings. I am beyond excited. So is my daughter Hannah (7). We both have been looking forward to this day for a while now and are estatic!

I am hoping to do everything right, but being that this is our first adventure with ducks, I am so worried about messing up.

Here are pictures of our new little flock...

They've had a very long trip to the feed store having just arrived today and were mailed out Monday! So I've put them in and have tried to limit my interaction with them for now. I just don't want to stress them anymore. So for now we want to let them settle in and get their tummies full and be happy. Then we want to play with them and take them on their first swims. This should be quite an adventure! Thanks!!!

very very cute ^^

is that possibly a snowy mallard I spy? lucky! our TSC has gotten chicks in, but isn't getting ducklings in till "later this week", as of yesterday, whatever that means.

I'm expecting my first clutch of momma raised mallards to hatch next tuesday!

have fun with them

Here's what they will look like in 7 months:

Darling son #2 brought home 6 mallard ducklings last October. They have been so entertaining, and make good use of a baby pool at all times. You won't have a bug in your yard all summer long! Enjoy.

They are adorable!!! We stopped by TSC today and they had 3 stock tanks full of chicks and ducklings and my kids just absolutely fell in love with the ducklings. They wanted to bring a couple home so bad...I felt bad having to say no...LOL.

Looks like you know what you are doing! They look well fed, watered and just plain Happy. I purchased 2 Khaki's and 2 Blue Swedish ducklings at the feed store last week and they are doing great. Food, water and keeping them clean. Google Mallard Duck and this site and you will get all the information you need. LOVE your pictures. Keep us posted.

I am a newbie too, but use this site and google anything you want to know, its all out there. You kinda figure it out along the way! I even started a website just to follow their progress.....crazy, but fun! Enjoy your new ducks!

Thanks everyone! We're very excited!

Do you really think its a snowy mallard? I kind of wondered that when I first saw it but figured it could just be paler down? I don't have a clue!

The ducklings are all doing great this morning too. I can't wait to play with them!!! I need to change the brooder and I want to put something in there that they can climb on to settle down and rest. The paper towels on the floor are soaked which I expected. So I may have to come up with something else for the floor.

my ducks are the best pets i ever had!!!!!!! You can get a bowl of water and put it in the little home and watch them go crazy!!!!!!! The first time i did this i just put a saucer in the with them and it was so cute they were so excited!!!!
Then i put them once a day in the bathroom sink and then upgraded them to the bathtub which they really loved because they could dive under the water!!!!! Now they are outside and i have a kiddy pool for them and a pond too!!!! They like to sleep in water too to feel safe so i put another old sand box i got at a garage sale and filled it with water in they coop and they sleep in there every night!!!!!
