We just received 10 ducklings in the mail. I'm not sure what to do with them that is different from chickens. So I'm basically doing what I did with our chicks when they arrived. Can anyone tell me if that's OK?

Thanks!

Ducklings make much more mess with their water than chicks do, so try to figure out a way to give them limited access to it...maybe a piece of hardware cloth bent to cover the water and give them access to drink from it but not swim and splash in it. Have fun, they grow so fast and are so adorable! What kinds did you get? Post some pics if you can too! We'd love to see your new babies!

Ducklings need more niacin and slightly more protein than chickens, so if you feed them nothing but chick starter they can become really weak and develop problems. Game bird starter is much better for them than chick starter, or you can mix the two together.
