New ducks are now home. pic added

I have to make this quick...as I am about to head out the door to go to the airport to pick up my 4 new Indain Runners. Anyway- they should be half way between Adelaide and Melbourne by now... So time I head off.

A trio of Harlequins and a Cinnamon duck. Sure cant wait to see them.... And hope they are enjoying their flight...( no peanuts or inflight movie for them in the cargo hold)

Anyway....Be home in two hours or so I guess - And will put up some pics as soon as they are settled.

So excited as I ordered these guys over 6 months ago. Ive so far only seen photos of them since hatching.......

Well.... Here they are.. The three Harlequins are all facing the same way.. The litter duck facing the opposite way is the Cinnamon Duck.

They are all well settled now- with food and water. I am so used to my hand raised babies that it was a shock to have these guys run away form me.

I left them in the carry crate for a few minutes while I filled a water dish and so they could safely meet all the other ducks. I wish I got a photo of thet...All 11 of my Runners standing around in a circle quacking at the carry crate.

The colours will compliment my breeding program well- but I am very pleased with thier type. So worth the wait..........

I did have to do a double-take, though. I looked at the picture, thought, "Wow, those Runners have great Runner stances," then I read your text about the "harlequins" and had to scroll back up and look again to make sure I was seeing right. I almost posted something like, "Um, I hate to tell you, but those are not harlequins--they're Runners!" Luckily, I re-read the thread and realized that you know that already, but I guess "harlequin" must be the name for the colors--which, by the way, are not colors I've seen before in a Runner. Anyway, I was thinking you meant as in "Welsh Harlequin," which looks nothing like a Runner..... Anyway.

Out here we call this colour of Runners Harlequin...I can see the confusion...... Originally when I decided to get Runners I wanted Fawn and White until I saw these colours. They are also fairly rare out here too. And there are hardly any pictures of this colour anywhere on the net. They are lovely - and I havent ever seen this exact colour type anywhere else so I feel very lucky to have these ones.

I have a few different colours as well but will be concentrating on the Harlequin and Cinnamon with my breeding.

Love the ducks but really like the colour of the cinnamon. Did the breeder tell you his secret on how they were made?

When I first saw her in the crate she was front on...My thought was...Oh no - I didnt want a white one. She has virtually no colour on her head or breast. But when she turned around and I saw her back.. I loved what I saw. The others I had here at home have a little more colour than her so I will have to think again about which drake to use with her. It sure is different being around ducks who dont come and take food from your hands and nibble your shoes though.

Beautiful colors on all four of them! Also, I'll bet if you bribe them with some treats they'll gradually get friendlier.

Thanks all for yor comments. I think they are all just lovely too. Well they better be after the long wait and the price I paid for them...

I was planning on keeping them seperate for a few days before I let them into general population. When I feed my ducks I always sit on the ground and make them come to me for the feed after a few minues I tip the rest into the containers around the yard. They will soon get used to the way things happen and when hungry enough will start to come closer. I dont want to handle them too much yet after the stress of the flight today.

Thanks CityChicker.. I have found out that there beaks are a bit light in colour - But thats something I can work to correct in my breeding program. They were well behaved last night and didnt try to keep the neighbours awake..Time to go let out all the others from the shed now so I will be interested to watch how things go this morning.
