Just added 2 6-week Cayuga mixes to my 2 Muscovies who are about the same age. I have had the muscovies since they were a few weeks and they are very tame. 8 o'clock sharp every night the walk up the ramp to their raised pen and I lock them up for the night. Every night with the new ducks is an exercise in my duck herding abilities as I chase them around the pen to catch one at at time and place them in a dog crate (so I can close the door and catch the other)

  1. Is there a better way to train they to get in the pen at night? Duck Incentives?
  2. I know the muscovies like being higher up, any chance the Cayuga's just don't dig their new off the ground casa?

Any tips would be great thanks.

My new guys... or gals not sure yet. They are beautiful.

So your new ducks aren't sleeping in the same house as your Muscovies? and given time I think they will most likely follow suit with your Scovies. it takes a bit or time to train new ducks, I don't know what you give in the line of treats but mine love dried mealworms so maybe a little meal worms sprinkled inside of their house so that when you herd them in or catch them and put them in there is a reward waiting for them, that way you are giving them some incentive to go in of an evening. you might try something else, but I suggest it not be messy or you may draw ants. LOL They are very pretty. and
