Hi. I'm a newbie at little birds, living west of Phoenix (I say "little" birds, because a few years ago, we raised ostriches). We got five "guaranteed pullets" in August, ranging from 2-4 months. The roo was rehomed last week - LOL - so much for "guaranteed". Our (best guess) black australorp started laying last Saturday, and has laid 5 eggs so far. The EE is already a good 7 months old, but she is finally reddening up, making lots of noises, and spending time in the nesting boxes, so hopefully we will soon have blue/green to add to our beige egg box! The remaining two are white leghorns (with possibly some mutt mixed in) who are getting very red, combs and wattles growing by the day, so I'm guessing we're still a couple weeks from white eggs. Anyway, I have been trolling and learning on BYC for a while, and figured it was time to pony-up and join!! --Cindy
