Hello all, New to Chickening (Is that even a word). Needing to learn from my peers and you are them! I'll start with answering the NEWBY Questionnaire.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I'm so new my egg has not hatched, Actually they have and my flock is nearly 2 weeks old.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I have 12 chicks, and am content with this number so far (Did I mention I have never Chickened before) = ).
(3) What breeds do you have?
I did some research and was looking for solely egg layers hardy to cold Virginian winters and decided on Rhode Island Reds/Blues and ISA Browns
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I am looking forward to watching these ladies play and explore and just relax in the process. Ohh and getting fresh Eggs.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I love the outdoors, Currently into fruit trees (Came with the House) or more so trying to figure them out. I fish, boat, hike, bike ride, sight see, motorcycle riding (Dirt/pavement), Home repairs/renovations, Seeing and finding the joys of life.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
This farm just includes Me, 2 German Shepards, and 12 Chicks [Don't judge! = ) ]. For employment I provide Uber rides to the County hotel.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
A friend of mine is on here and she suggested becoming a member 3 weeks ago, I did not until seeing a beautiful Coop made by one of your members and need to build one of my own for my flock. Thank you for the opportunity to learn from you all. I hope the experience to come is as great as I have heard from others.
