Hi all my son David & I neil have got 12 chickens of various breeds, they lay a variety of colored eggs,
we enjoy them so much, we would like to get very dark brown eggs and pink eggs, can anyone point me in
the right direction, we live in Swansea south wales.

so glad you have joined us.

I think the Cuckoo Marans lay the chocolate brown eggs.

Buff orpingtons lay light brown = pink eggs.

There are probably others to meet your plans. You can get egg color with breed info from the major hatchery sites.

Good luck with your selection.

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Maybe try the UK thread to see what breeds are available where you are that lay the colored eggs there you are looking for. X2 Marans are one of the most popular dark brown egg layers, Welsummers are also popular. Pink seems to be more of a hit or miss, breeds that lay light brown eggs will have birds that lay pinkish eggs, Brahmas, Orpingtons and Plymouth Rocks seem to be mentioned a lot. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/2199/anyone-in-england/0_20

Hi :welcome

From Yorkshire UK! Glad you could join the flock! I would recommend you try "Pembrokeshire Poultry" they have quite a diverse selection of chickens maybe they have some that lay the egg colour you want. I'm sure they will be able to help you with the colours.

Wishing you the very best of luck and hope you enjoy BYC :frow
