My husband gets e-mails like that all the time too. People saying they've won the lotto and if he forwards them so many thousands of dollars he will get millions, yeah right! Anyway I heard that a lot of these scams are from people in Nigeria. There are no laws against scamming in Nigeria, and they actually have huge office buildings set up just to conduct this type of "business". I watched a whole show about it, maybe on 20/20 or 60 minutes, something like that.

I actually had one guy correspond with me for weeks after I told him I was going to report him. It was funny. He was funny.

Best thing to do when you get these emails is nothing. Never respond. Your only confirming your email is valid and opening yourself up to further scams and possibly worse, like identity theft. Be careful friends.

I have 2 e-mail boxes.. a 'real' one, and the one I give out for other crap. I get stuff in that other one all the time. I love it when they ask for a routing & acct # for the bank. I laugh and just think, is anyone REALLY that dumb?? Some poor person must be, or they wouldn't send those out anymore! And I also saw a special on it.. on dateline I think.

I prefer those over the stupid 'male enhancement' and cialis e-mails, though. ARG, nothing irritates me like getting 50 junk e-mails in one day (hubby signed up for a cc online, he now gets 75-100 e-mails PER DAY. Sad, really)

A similar thing happened to us when we placed an ad in the newspaper for an antique bedroom set. We got a Operator Assisted phone call from someone who wanted the set. Same senario. I did correspond with them by email. I got suspicious and led them on. I got a money order and promptly forwarded it to the Sheriff's office and Wrote Back to them that I had done so and sell as a copy of all the correspondence via email with ISP routing and anything I could get by clicking on "properties". I never heard back from the Sheriff but I have seen an item on the local news "Action Line" regarding this type of scam. Please be carefull in placing an ad in the Newspapers as well.

That was what I was thinking, I had placed an ad on Craigs List but it was for my 4 cockerals not a dog. LOL.
