So we have a 5 gallon waterer with a trough tray ring attached. We got a drop in de-icer once the temperatures started to drop and the water in the in the base stays nice and fluid, but the small ringed trough is always frozen solid. What can I do to get water to the chickies?

I have the same setup as you but with nipple waterers on the bucket...they don’t freeze.

We never had much luck with those....

They do sell heated metal bases to sit them on....

But we simply switched to black rubber pans, and bring out fresh water twice a day... or drop in a de-icer.
