I just joined BYC; great to see so many New Englanders!
I'm from Massachusetts; I grew up in Waltham and currently live in Fitchburg (North Central Mass).
Don't have any chickens yet, still researching breeds, etc. Buff Orpingtons are at the top of my short list.
Did most of you buy local or have chicks shipped in?

You can get chicks at the chickenstocks (check the other forum) or sometimes on the Worcester craigslist. Easiest to order what you want and sell the rest. If you end up ordering, let me know. I have my eyes on some dark egg layers.
