Rhode Island here....New to chickens have 6 and just got our first egg on Friday August 28th

Congrats! Where in RI? I have 3 month old hens and waiting for my first egg. Know anyone who needs a nice rooster? I hatched all mine from eggs and am overrun with friendly roosters that I don't want to have to slaughter. So far, only 2 have gone to new forever homes...

We are in Northern RI Scituate. we have 6 hens we got them from a farm in Johnston woman told us they were 4 1/2 months old in mid June however we think she was off cause I can't believe the changes and how much they have grown.
My first egg was Aug 28th then next day got 2 eggs and today Wed. Sept 2 my 3rd hen laid an egg! MY original layer has not missed a day nor my second layer yet! 12 eggs in 6 days from 3 hens! VERY excited...

We let them free range a couple hours at night when we are outside with them and they are pets, jump on our laps let us scratch their chest and eat from our hands!! I have become the "crazy chicken lady" in a matter of months lol so much to learn everyday something NEW......

Update got 3 eggs today sept 2nd then at 4:45 tonight another hen laid an egg that is 4 of my 6 in the last week started laying !!! WOOHHHOOOO

Down to 3 layers, except one it's sitting on fertilized eggs hatching in 2 days

Would be great if anyone has fertilized Americana eggs

Also looking for a place to bring meat birds for processing if known

Ricochet Ridge in Smithfield has Ameraucana eggs (not EE). I think there is a processor in Johnston but not sure name.

Try calling Baffonis Farm, they may process them not 100% sure

Any one in Mass or close to dartmouth that want a purebred white bantam cochin roo. Purebred black bantam cochin roo. Haratage road island red roo with great greens and purples coming threw. Or swedish flower roo. I'm willing to trade or sell cheap. Thought maybe someone needs or wants them. They are all people kid and dog friendly. They go to coop to roost at night. I just have extras
