New Englanders! Much ado about New England!

I will add only one thing to Natalie's post - even though feed stores offer 'sexed' chicks, they're only about 85-90% accurate (it's the nature of the beast!). I ordered 15 pullets but still ended up with a rooster, who so far is still with us (if my neighbors complain I'll have to get rid of him).

Where can I purchase chickens?

i try to keep this group updated as things come up, there is a swap coming on dec.7 at the sportsmans club in westford ma.
also there is a show coming in jan. in west springfield.
i have an email listing that i send out with the swaps info i am working on dec/jan kind of waiting on gypsy before i send them out

hey does anyone know when the Spring meetings will start in Maine? I know that there are a lot of shows and swaps and stuff, but when and where are they???

thanks!

Well, I hope to try and get a Chickenstock at the new Oxford Tractor Supply Company this spring. You might want to check out the Central Maine Bird Fanciers Club or even the Northern New England Bird Fanciers Club.

I am not certain when but if your close to Windsor (the Common Ground Fair site) they usually have a spring show, auction and sales of birds. If all else fails, its so fun to see others prize birds. I have enjoyed myself being part of the club, a lot like this site, fun to talk chickens, see how many of us are alike regardless to age, financial status or education.
77horses, Do you have a 4-H club near you that you could get involved with? Its a shame with all of your knowledge, intellegence (I think your smarter beyond your age) and ability to find answers to your questions, especially understanding so much about chickens! (Keep it up, you will have your own flock someday and be able to explain the pride you feel for them - not that you don't now!)
I'm not certain if mmajw is going to have another one at the W.Gardiner Gun Club, that was a nice day.
You take care!
