I was hanging laundry out yesterday and had to just stop and close my eyes for a minute. The sun was shining on my face, birds singing....and that smell...the spring smell...it was just wonderful. Now it's time to put up the greenhouse and get some plants going!

I am welcoming mud season until I lost the turkeys. If I can hop the snow bankings, there seems to be about 3 feet of snow in places, also what isn't snow is a frost layer that has running water underneath (its a bog behind us where the turkeys are roosting).
Between my size and the different types of arthritis that I live with, I just cant do it. I'm so frustrated that I am in tears.
So anyways, tomorrow is another day and lets all hope they come home.

Hello all. I just wanted to share my coop progress pictures with my New England neighbors and my close by Massachusetts neighbors. I feel like I'm in full swing now. A ton got done today, it helps that my brother is a builder by trade. Only a few more hours and the coop will be done, then the run work begins. I think my chickies are going to like these digs.

Bill, that is looking awesome! You sure are lucky to have a brother in the trades, things always go so much smoother when you have someone with the skills helping out doesn't it?
Your kids are so cute, they must be so excited.
I thought the novelty of the chickens may wear off after a while with the kids but they still fight over who gets to collect the eggs or who gets to let them out of the coop or throw them scratch.
Its been really good for them and my husband and I really enjoy them as well. They are alot of fun.
I can't wait to see how the coop looks when it is complete. You will have to post some more pictures when you are done.
I have to learn to do that myself, I gotta buy a new camera and get crackin on getting some pictures up.
Hey, did I ever tell you that I thought you were an old guy when I first met you on the garden forum?
I have no idea why, maybe because you sound so mature
I figured it out shortly after, maybe when you mentioned young kids or something.
Isn't it weird how you imagine people being on the internet and they turn out to be totally different?

I got a ton done on my coop and in the garden last week; the weather was lovely. Today, not so much.

Does anyone know of a local supplier for DE? I'm in Fitchburg MA, but willing to travel some. I'll be going to Milford NH next month.

I order mine online from shadowridge because you can't find the foodgrade in my area. I don't know about your area but most of the places I have found only carry the kind meant for pools etc.
Make sure whatever you get is food grade.
