New, excited, and ready-to-learn in upstate NY

Hi everybody! I am super new to chickens, but have wanted them since I was 7 years old. We may not have our chicks yet, but I have spent the last 6 months researching and getting ready! Our chicks come next week and I could not be more excited (4 Buff Orpingtons, 4 Americanas, 6 Bantams (assorted)). My husband and I have been building our own coop and it's almost done, and the brooder box is ready and waiting of course. Really looking forward to being a part of this new community!

Good for you on building the coop before you get chickens! That way you can concentrate of the birds and just enjoy without worrying about last minute housing.
