Just beware. it WILL be able to FLY

Hopefully your little friend grows strong.
My two Australian spotteds can fly as well. Luckily for me, they know where home and food are and aren't interested in being elsewhere! Jackie is eating, drinking, and pooping like a champ, so he/she is very healthy. I really hope the other two will accept him/her, but I can at least make sure he/ she grows up safely!

Jackie's growing like a weed! Yaaay, because I know that's not likely for an orphan/rescue. I'm pretty sure she's a girl, which is also great, because I know Downey considers himself the little man of the house. She and the other ducks are aware of each other, and watch each other from their separate spaces. Jackie and Hemmie got in the sink together! They then proceeded to ignore each other, lol, but there was no hostility. Crossing fingers and going slow.

They grow so fast! Jackie is already so big! I'm starting to get anxiety about the other two not feeling like they're ready to socialize yet, though. The drake is really just busy being a mating stud and very much into protecting his woman. It's basically impossible up separate him and Hemmie, so any possible visiting time is spent with me between him and Jackie. She's definitely a she, which is good, but she's also definitely a wood duck, so I'll have to start thinking about releasing her when it's time. They still have separate enclosures, so I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping when the spring/summer of love (mating season) ends, they'll be more friendly.

Good. Looks like you have a great home for her. You've done a remarkable job. Wood ducks are hard ducks to raise.
Thank you so much for saying so! That makes me feel better! She is the sweetest, cuddliest little thing. I wish my other two (Australian spotteds) would be friends with her already, but I think mating season has a lot to do with the way those two are acting at the moment! I felt like such a bad parent, lol!
