Hey Everyone!!!
After spending a great deal of time "lurking" I've finally made the leap to join. My wife and I really getting into the Homesteading scene, and are enjoying the country life as much as we can. We have a 13 year old girl and a 5 year boy. We live on 25 acres just outside of Rome, GA. We have been raising Spotted Saddle Horses and Nubian dairy goats for 7 years, but surprisingly have just recently gotten into chickens. I'm making up for lost time.
We started out with 6 golden sex links from TSC, lost 2 to hawks early on. Once these 4 started laying, we had a few extra dozen here and there, and quickly got overwhelmed with request from friends and family for eggs...thus came the next 15 hens!!! We're neck deep and expanding as fast as possible. We're up to 24 hens and 1 rooster, 8 different breeds all running around together.
Anyway, thanks for all the info we've received thus far, it's been a life saver!
