Good morning BYC friends! We welcomed our first feather-baby on Thursday 4/30 when my husband swerved to miss a baby wild turkey (1 day old, brand new, no family in sight and cars/cats all around.) He brought it(her?) home and we built a brooder, purchased many supplies at Tractor Supply, and fell in love. Then the very next day, I wake up to my husband bringing home 4 little baby chicks (also from Tractor Supply) after having read an article that these guys are social creatures and likely will "do better" in a group. Of course now we have a baby turkey that is younger than these baby chickens, but way bigger. It's cute. They aren't fighting much over food at the moment. But it's still early. I have food questions but will be searching as many existing threads as I can first, to avoid making helpers repeat themselves. I am happy to be here!
