Could I have some opinions on Izzy's new feathers? I'm a little concerned that they might be signs of a rooster

I have spotted these new feathers showing on Izzy. There are about five of them that form a ring around her(?) neck.

I had a hard time taking the close up pictures so I am not sure if they are good enough to help. The black feathers are long and thin but they are not pointy at the end. The chicks are 13 weeks old this weekend. She never had black feathers before.

I wouldn't worry to much about it. I'd say at 13 weeks she still looks like a hen but you never know for sure until they crow or lay an egg.

I don't know the breed very well, but I don’t think the black feathers are indicative of a roo! Maybe she just decided it was time for a change in patterning!

I hope it is an egg and not a crow! I'm glad you think she still looks like a pullet. When I had chickens before I was on acreage in the country so it was just fun to see who turned into what. Now with the Pinellas County restriction of four hens and absolutely no roosters, it is kind of nerve wracking. If she does turn out to be a rooster I would keep her and pray that she would be quiet. I have four pet pigs in my little backyard and great neighbors, but I think a crowing rooster might be pushing it a bit :P

Alex15: I hope you are right. I think that she is absolutely beautiful and those new feathers look really pretty poking through her feather "shawl".
I am in hopes that since no one has posted that she is getting rooster feathers in that she is just a pretty girl :)

Kev: thanks, I think she is lovely :)
What kind of bird is that in your avatar? That is an awesome looking critter!
