Black Australorp: hen or roo?

She has yellow skin as evident by her feet. Australorps have pink or white skin. While she is a pullet, she is not an Australorp. She's very likely a Jersey Giant and this also explains the size discrepancy :)
Wow. Ok. That definitely explains it. At the time I purchased her, the hatchery did have both BA's and JG's. I had asked for a BA, based on the desired temperament, egg laying capability and a true love the orpington breed. We really thought, based on her size at 5 weeks that she was a Roo. But, this makes much more sense.
Thank you sooo much for the clarification.

I’m not that experienced with sexing chickens but I would say hen. However any dark colored animal is hard to photograph without strong lighting/sunlight or flash to bring out the details. (Having had a black dog for years a while back I struggled with the same thing). Focus / tap on the dark bird for the adjustment of the camera’s iris. Not sure what kind of camera you use (phone, slr or whatever) if you open up the iris enough to see the bird’s details the background will likely wash out. The camera will automatically try to prevent this which is why it is hard… so you have to override the settings on dark objects that are in front of too light of a background.
