1. I’ve been obsessing over chickens since my first time visiting the Chicken Barn at the County Fair in the nineteen hundreds, and happily I just had my one year chicken parenting anniversary. Yay!
2/3. I have an integrated poultry flock of ten:
Gold and Silver Wyandotte,
Australorp,
Blue Splash Maran,
Khaki Campbell Duck,
American Buff Goose,
Four Cream Legbar x Maran pullets (but I’m 99.9% sure one of those is a cockerel)
= 10
4. Chickens are hilarious to have as pets. Seeing a bunch of hens gunning you down when you shake the treat bag is a sight to behold. Definitely better than clowns at a circus. Eggs are a bonus.
5. I’ve been dabbling in bee keeping, have a dog, cat, and also parent three human children during my free time, and all the other times too.
6. Was a wildland firefighter for years and now a SAHM and freelance photographer.
7. I’ve been ghost reading BYC for years (years before getting chickens) and finally decided to go legit.
