I just have a quick question for now. Can a chicken lay more than one egg a day?

Welcome to BYC. Upon a rare occasion a hen can lay 2 eggs in a day. Generally it is a glitch in her reproductive system that causes this to happen and may indicate problems may happen.

Welcome to BYC!!! The answer given is correct, and I would only add that certain breeds that have been specifically bred to lay like machines will do that on rare occasions. Sex Links and Golden Comets, Production Reds...birds of that nature are really the only kinds that would do that, but it is very rare.
