Really looking to connect with some local BYC keepers for area-specific guidance! I am in DELCO just outside of Philly. First flock!
Tonight marks the second night the chickens have slept out in the coop.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
First flock, chickens are about a month old.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
7
(3) What breeds do you have?
We have 2 black sex link pullets, 2 golden comet pullets and 3 silkies (unsexed).
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Love animals, love knowing where my eggs are coming from.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
gardening - both professionally and at home
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
my partner and I are raising these chickens together. We also have a 5 year old Puggle named Henri Matisse... he is doing SUPER well with the chickens! (Thank god) if anything, he is jealous.
Currently trying to pull some info on predators in our area... we’ve spent a lot of time researching care and coop safety... think we are *almost* at fort-Knox certification. but would really like some more specifics on what to look out for (predators, disease, injury) in making sure our chickens live long healthy and happy lives!
