Just working on building a coop / yard for my future chickens. The feedstore has a couple of breeds that I found photos of here, but what I would really like is to have chickens like we did growing up. Of course, it has been at least 25 years since those chickens and I have no idea what kind they were!
My pet hen "Copper" was extremely friendly (sit in your lap or beside your chair, ride in a baby doll carriage, etc) - she was black with a "copper" colored collar / necklace (golden specks all through her neck feathers). We didn't have banty's (sp?) but I don't remember her being very big.

Any ideas? Is this maybe a "mutt" of a chicken?

Other than that, I am looking at a couple of Barred Rocks and maybe a couple of Easter Eggers (feedstore labeled them as Ameraucana but I saw somewhere on this site that it probably is EEs?).

Excited and nervous about getting the new babies!

From Ocala, Fl

It was probably a Black Sexlink hen. If it had feathers on its legs it may have been a maran. Yeah Ameracaunas at feed stores are usually EE's

Wow... thanks for the warm welcome!
I looked at photos for the Black Sex-Links and by jove I think that is Copper! Too bad my feed store doesn't have them.... *sigh*
