hello all...
my wife and i decided to get some chicks this spring! i am completely new to it (even though i was raised in farm country my whole life), however my wife had chickens as a child.
we got 8 chicks from tractor supply.
two barred rock "pullets" (one im POSITIVE is a cockerel) they are around 5 weeks old
two new hampshire reds. straight run chicks that i am hoping to figure out gender soon. also around 5 weeks
two straight run buff orpingtons. about 3-4 weeks old
two straight run black australorps. also about 3-4 weeks
i am in the process of building a chicken coop for them. it'll be an 8'x8' raised coop. hopefully it'll be done in the next week or so.
our goal is to only keep one roo... guess we'll cross the which-roos-are-dinner bridge later.
id just like to give a huge THANKS to everyone in this community. ive learned so much already and im sure i'll continue to learn more from you all!
