New from Huntington Beach

Hello! I am new from Huntington Beach California The preschool classroom next door has been hatching chicks and we not have 9 so far that are hatched! I would love to bring 4 home to have fresh eggs eventually but have to make sure they are not roosters since those are not allowed in HB. Anyways, hi everyone and I look forward to getting me to know and learn from everyone!

Thank you everyone! I'm super excited about the prospect of having my own backyard chickens. I think I'm a little stressed about figuring out their sex since I cannot have a rooster in my city. I know there's no tell tale signs for awhile but the teacher who has them wants to take the ones I'm not keeping back to the feed store so I'm not quite sure what to do.

Wish we could help but, their age is against making any sound decisions on gender. You could post photos of the ones with the most prominent comb development at "what breed or gender is this," to see if there are any clues this early - but that would be a gamble also.
