Plucky Duck
In the Brooder
Hello everyone!
My husband and I are fairly new chicken parents, but we've already discovered what a valuable resource this site is!
We began last year with 6 buff orpington and 6 barred rock. We have since acquired an Americana roo named Bruce who has integrated beautifully into the flock! Toward the end of fall we lost one buff to a hawk, and then toward the end of winter we lost another buff for reasons unknown. Because of this forum, I successfully nursed our flock through a bout of coccidiosis! We just had a barred rock get attacked by our neighbor's new dog, and we suspect she broke her leg, so we are trying to mend her as I type this. (I posted about it in the emergencies thread)
We live on a small farm in Indiana, and our chickens are our first attempt at keeping animals here while we fix our barn up for some future livestock. I look forward to getting to know everyone here
