I just wanted to let you know I am now the proud of owner of 4 red comet hens, I call them Me Ladies! I have had them for a week. I have never raised chickens, but did a lot of investigating through books, internet, and talking with people to see if it would be for me. I must say I have tapped into this site so many times already, had to become a member, love all the information provided on here. Me Ladies didn't take any time at all to become acculimated to their new surroundings, and have been producing since day 2! I enjoy going and watching them, and interacting with them. My Dog gets along great with them! I did find out that my dog likes mealworms as a treat too! So they are the perfect for us! Thank you all again for all the great information! I'm sure I will be on here a lot, and maybe even asking a few questions too!

Thank you all for the Welcomes! Much appreciated! Dwkuska I haven't had a chance to get any pics yet! But as soon as I can I will post some! Yes, I went to an animal swap meet held at Tractor Supply and got laying hens. Hens only for now as I am on Main Street right now and didn't want any complaints from the neighbors about having a rooster waking them. Hopefully will be in the country within the next 6 months and Me Ladies will once again be happy! They seem to be doing well without him though. They've settled in well here so far! I hate that I have to keep them cooped up all the time they act as though they may have been total free range! But we have a garden and the train runs close to the house along with traffic, wild cats and other critters. So there coop and tractor seem to give them a since of security they've gotten out on me a couple of times now! They come right back to it! Just thinking they get like me Bored sometimes! LOL!
