Hi, I'm a new member and I'm so glad I found this site. Can't wait to read everyone's thread, questions and info. Thanks for accepting me (and my chicks).

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Do you have any chickens?

Hi. Yes. We have 8 chickens. I would like two araucanas but not sure where to buy them in NJ. The woman who I bought them from moved , unfortunately. Any suggestions would help. Thanks.

Unless you're going to get them from a reputable breeder (and there aren't many in the US for true Araucanas), the birds you will be getting will actually be Easter Eggers rather than true Araucanas, which are rare, expensive, and have tailless rumps. Hatcheries and feed stores (and sadly even some professed breeders) frequently and incorrectly sell Easter Eggers under the labels Araucana or Ameraucana, when they are in fact EEs which are hybrids that lay colored eggs. If you are not familiar with the difference, there is a good article at http://www.the-chicken-chick.com/2011/09/ameraucana-easter-egger-or-araucana.html explaining the difference between true Araucanas, true Ameraucanas, and Easter Eggers.
