New from Michigan

Cool! Those are some nice breeds to have. I have a mix of Ameraucana's, Silkies, Polish, Copper Marans, Orpingtons, Blue laced red wyandottes, Sizzles, Frizzle polish, English Orpingtons. And i also have 4 eggs underneath my two broody silkie hens. :)
That’s a pretty sweet mix. If you don’t mind me asking how do you like your silkies? I almost ordered some but it’s been very very cold in Michigan this year and I’ve read they are meant for warmer climates so I’ve been hesitant to get them. But they are just so cute. I honestly had such a hard time picking out the new baby chicks this year. There’s just so many great choices

I would totally recommend Silkies! Ever since I saw them for the first time i immediately fell in love so i bought 20! :) And I have been working on starting to breed them. They are the funniest and sweetest chicken breed i have ever had. However they do not do well in the cold. Some people's silkies just drop dead in the winter. But fortunately for me i haven't had anyone die yet. These are some of my silkie hens. The first pic is of my Gray silkie hen her name is Greyey she is now incubating 2 eggs right now. The 2nd pic is of my black silkie hen Squatchy she is VERY small but she recently laid her first egg (3rd pic is of her first egg) (Also these are not the silkies i am using for breeding they are by far more better quality :))

Awe they are so cute. I’m thinking I’m going’s to do a little more research on them and see what I could do to keep them warm. But I’m really loving what I see so far and I think they would be a good fit especially with my 2 year old.
