Hi I'm Dee,

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Sort of new, my parents had chickens for a few years when I was young. They were all my pets and I loved taking care of them. Now, MANY years later, I’m retired and in the spring 2021 I decided to build my own small coop, pen, and run. Small being the key word, I only have 4 hens. 😊

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

4

(3) What breeds do you have?

1 Ameraucana and 3 French Marans

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

I enjoy interacting with them (they all seem to have their own personalities) and I REALLY like fresh eggs

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

Greenhouse gardening, playing games with friends, reading, and I love summer so lots of outdoor projects and camping.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

My husband and I are both retired and live in northwest Nevada. We have 2 small dogs and 2 cats (well, sort of 2, one of them is a stray I started feeding several years ago).

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?

I found BYC while googling about an odd-looking poop. Lol I’ve been back over and over again for various other questionable things or issues. I’ve learned a lot from all the knowledgeable members, the latest being sour crop that started as an impacted crop. Took me awhile but finally decided to join.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

So glad you decided to join us. Lovely breeds you keep! ❤️ Hopefully you can find help and get these issues sorted out in your flock soon.

Make yourself at home here and welcome to our community!

Hi Dee! I'm glad the strange poops could bring us all together! But in all seriousness, it's great you are paying enough attention to your flock that you care enough to notice and research those kind of things!

Thanks for joining and welcome to BackYard Chickens!
